Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain have named their teams for Wednesday’s Champions League heavyweight meeting at the Etihad Stadium, with Enzo Maresca rewarding Jeremy Doku after his decisive display against Liverpool and Luis Enrique reshaping his PSG midfield and attack.
City arrive after a demanding 3-0 Premier League win over Liverpool, and Maresca has made three alterations to that side. Abdukodir Khusanov comes in at right-back ahead of Matheus Nunes, while Joško Gvardiol and Doku replace Nico O’Reilly and Iliman Ndiaye.
Doku’s inclusion follows his starring role in Sunday’s victory over Liverpool, while Erling Haaland leads a forward line also featuring Antoine Semenyo and Rayan Cherki.
City make three changes after Liverpool win
Gianluigi Donnarumma starts in goal for the home side behind a defence of Khusanov, Ruben Dias, Marc Guéhi and Gvardiol. Anderson and Enzo Fernández form the central midfield pairing.
Manchester City’s starting XI is: Donnarumma; Khusanov, Ruben Dias, Guéhi, Gvardiol; Anderson, Enzo Fernández; Semenyo, Cherki, Doku; Haaland.
Luis Enrique rotates heavily for Etihad test
PSG have made eight changes from the team that beat Le Mans 3-1 in Ligue 1 on Saturday. Marquinhos, Fabián Ruiz, Ousmane Dembélé, Désiré Doué, Vitinha, Nuno Mendes, Warren Zaïre-Emery and Willian Pacho all return to the starting side.
Zaïre-Emery is selected in midfield instead of João Neves, while Maghnes Akliouche is preferred to Khvicha Kvaratskhelia in the front three. Akliouche joins Doué and Dembélé in attack, with Ferran Torres among the substitutes.
PSG’s starting XI is: Safonov; Hakimi, Marquinhos, Pacho, Mendes; Vitinha, Zaïre-Emery, Fabián Ruiz; Akliouche, Doué, Dembélé.
The selections set up a meeting between two sides arriving from domestic victories but taking markedly different approaches to rotation: City retain much of the group that overcame Liverpool, while PSG bring back the core of their strongest European side for a major night in Manchester.
