Manchester United Seek Vital Premier League Win at Fulham

Manchester United arrive at Craven Cottage under pressure to turn a difficult opening to the season around, with three Premier League points the clear target against Fulham.

Michael Carrick’s side face a London trip that carries an early-season edge. Fulham, coached by Álvaro Arbeloa, are still seeking their first league win and see the home fixture as a chance to reset their campaign.

Quick facts

  • Fixture: Fulham v Manchester United
  • Competition: Premier League, matchday five
  • Venue: Craven Cottage, beside the River Thames
  • Manchester United coach: Michael Carrick
  • Fulham coach: Álvaro Arbeloa
  • Fulham are chasing their first league victory of the season.

Supporters began gathering around Craven Cottage as the evening drew in on the Thames. Both teams have named 4-2-3-1 formations for the match.

Senne Lammens starts in goal for United. Harry Maguire, Luke Shaw, Diogo Dalot and Lisandro Martínez form the defensive unit, with Bruno Fernandes, Youri Tielemans and Kobbie Mainoo operating through midfield.

Marcus Rashford leads the visitors’ attack alongside Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha. Carrick can call on Joshua Zirkzee, Mason Mount, Noussair Mazraoui, Andrey Santos, Carlos Baleba, Leny Yoro, Shea Lacey, Patrick Dorgu and Karl Darlow from the bench.

Fulham select Bernd Leno in goal behind Timothy Castagne, Antonee Robinson, Calvin Bassey and David Affengruber. Josh King, Sander Berge, Shea Charles and Oscar Bobb make up the midfield line.

Alex Iwobi and Gonzalo García start furthest forward for the hosts. Arbeloa’s replacements include Rodrigo Muniz, Emile Smith Rowe, Ryan Sessegnon, Joachim Andersen, Hugo Larsson, César Palacios, Kevin, Manuel Ángel and Benjamin Lecomte.

For United, the demand is immediate: leave west London with a result that can ease scrutiny around their start. For Fulham, a first win would provide the lift needed to bring their season into motion.
