Marseille will welcome Paris Saint-Germain at the Vélodrome on Sunday night, with the latest Classique carrying the weight of more than five decades of rivalry and a handful of records that could be tested.

The fifth round meeting is scheduled for 20:45 and will be shown on Ligue 1+, also available through L’Équipe.
Marseille and PSG first met in an official fixture on 12 December 1971, when OM won 4-2 at the Vélodrome in the old Division 1 championship. It remains one of the landmark scorelines in the fixture, although it is not the widest winning margin.
That distinction belongs to PSG’s 5-0 Ligue 1 victory at the Parc des Princes on 8 February 2026. The highest-scoring Classique, meanwhile, came on 7 April 1979, when PSG beat Marseille 4-3 in Paris. Seven goals were shared that day; both sides would need a sharp night in front of goal to surpass it this weekend.
Zlatan Ibrahimovic remains PSG’s most prolific scorer in the rivalry, having struck 11 times against Marseille. He is ahead of both Kylian Mbappé and Edinson Cavani in the Parisian record books.
For Marseille, Hervé Florès is the leading scorer against PSG. The forward, who played for OM from 1975 to 1981, scored five goals in Classiques.
Steve Mandanda owns another significant Marseille mark. The former goalkeeper played 30 matches against PSG, the highest total by any player in the rivalry. PSG captain Marquinhos is second on the list, but remains five appearances behind Mandanda.

Marseille host PSG on Sunday at 20:45 in Ligue 1’s fifth matchday, with the Vélodrome set to stage another chapter of the Classique.
