Michael Jordan’s Game 2 road jersey from the 1998 NBA Finals has changed hands for $14 million in a private sale, setting a new high-water mark for basketball memorabilia. Miami real estate investor Ron Firman bought the signed, game-worn Bulls uniform from the June 5, 1998 matchup against the Utah Jazz.

The red Bulls jersey came from the night Chicago evened the series at 1-1. Jordan and the Bulls finished the job in six games, securing the sixth championship of his career and closing the 1997-98 season later chronicled in the 2020 documentary series The Last Dance.
A Finals jersey market of its own
The $14 million transaction is the largest known price for any basketball collectible. It ranks second among known sales of game-worn jerseys across sports, trailing only the Babe Ruth Yankees jersey from the 1932 World Series “called shot” game, which brought $24.12 million in 2024.
Jordan’s 1998 Finals gear has become a separate tier of the memorabilia market. His Game 1 jersey from that series sold for roughly $10.1 million in 2022, while a Game 3 jersey brought approximately $12.3 million at auction last month.
Firman called Jordan “an incredibly talented player” with admirers worldwide and said he was excited to complete the purchase.
Chain of custody
The jersey was acquired directly from the Bulls by a private collector in 2003. It then remained in a short ownership trail, changing hands only once before Firman’s purchase.
The Game 2 uniform was not the only piece from that night to draw a premium. Jordan’s Air Jordan shoes from the same Jazz game sold for $2.2 million in 2023, then a record for sneakers at public sale.
