Murić Errors Hand Frosinone Early Edge Over Sassuolo

Frosinone’s first-half advantage over Sassuolo was shaped by Antonio Raimondo’s finishing, but also by a damaging four-minute spell from Arijanet Murić. The Kosovo goalkeeper was involved in two major errors as Sassuolo’s defensive frailties again came into view, leaving Alberto Aquilani with a difficult week ahead on the training ground.

A troubled evening begins from the back

Sassuolo were already behind after 10 minutes, following a risky attempt to play out from their own area. Murić passed to Bakola on the edge of the box, but the Frenchman lost possession under Masini’s pressure. The loose ball fell to Calò, who finished from close range.

That opening goal did not belong to Murić’s list of mistakes, but it set the tone for a first half in which Sassuolo struggled to manage danger in their own defensive third.

  • Murić attempted to start Sassuolo’s move with a pass to Bakola.
  • Masini pressed Bakola into losing the ball.
  • Calò collected the rebound and scored from close distance.

Raimondo profits from two Murić mistakes

The goalkeeper’s difficult night became decisive in the 26th minute, with the score at 1-1. Calò delivered from the right towards Raimondo, while Odenthal appeared to shield Murić as the goalkeeper came out to gather low. The understanding between defender and goalkeeper broke down, however, and the ball reached Raimondo, who put Frosinone 2-1 ahead with the goal unguarded.

Only four minutes later, Sassuolo conceded again in even more painful fashion. Caleta-Car’s headed back-pass did not carry enough weight, and Murić came well outside his area in an attempt to deal with it. His awkward headed intervention failed to clear the danger, allowing Raimondo to react first and roll the ball into an empty net for his second goal and Frosinone’s temporary 3-1 lead.

  • 26th minute: Raimondo made it 2-1 after uncertainty between Murić and Odenthal.
  • 30th minute: a short Caleta-Car back-pass left Murić exposed outside his box.
  • Raimondo seized on the loose ball to complete his brace and extend Frosinone’s lead to 3-1.

Aquilani faces defensive work

From the Sassuolo bench, Aquilani could only watch as the match turned sharply against his side. The goals were scored by Raimondo, yet both were enabled by Murić’s decisions and execution in moments where composure was required.

For Sassuolo, the first-half sequence was not simply about individual errors. The loss of possession for Calò’s goal, followed by the misunderstandings and poor interventions that brought Raimondo’s double, pointed to a defensive phase in need of urgent attention during the coming week.
