Napoli’s approach to Florence has begun with a familiar concern at the centre of the week: Frank Anguissa is improving, but he is not yet fully clear of the physical issue that has kept him out of the last two matches.
The coach and the club
Massimiliano Allegri will receive a clearer indication this morning on whether Anguissa has recovered from the muscle fatigue that ruled him out against Arsenal and Bologna. The midfielder has returned to individual work, an encouraging step, although he is still short of the condition he and the club would want before taking another risk.
Anguissa remains the only player with a realistic chance of emerging from the treatment room before Napoli travel to Florence. No other injured player is expected to return to the pitch, leaving Allegri to assess whether he can count on one additional midfielder for the next league appointment.
The fixture’s 12:30 kick-off is part of the calculation. Napoli have had a free week before the coming international break, but the early start requires particular attention to the physical state of individual players. Allegri is therefore considering limited rotation rather than broad changes.
For Anguissa, the decision will rest on whether the fatigue has fully passed. Napoli do not want a premature return to turn a manageable concern into a longer absence at a delicate point in the championship.
