Napoli’s injury list has lengthened again after the league meeting with Roma, leaving Massimiliano Allegri to revise his options before the trip to Monza. Benoit Badiashile and Leonardo Spinazzola have both undergone medical tests, while Amir Rrahmani has returned to full training at an important moment for the side.
The decision
The more significant concern is Badiashile. The French defender has suffered a moderate strain to the rectus femoris muscle and is expected to be out for between four and six weeks. His return is therefore likely to come no later than the middle of December.
Spinazzola also picked up a muscular problem during the closing stages of Saturday’s match. Tests showed a low-grade injury to the biceps femoris in his right thigh. He remains uncertain for the Lazio fixture, Napoli’s final match before the November international break, although the expectation is that he can be available again for Torino after the pause.
There is, however, a timely piece of positive news in defence. Rrahmani completed the whole training session with the group and is now fully recovered. He is expected to have a strong chance of starting against Monza, offering Allegri an experienced option as Badiashile begins his rehabilitation.
Sunday’s picture
Napoli will travel to Monza without Badiashile and Spinazzola, while Alisson, Favasuli, Buongiorno and Neres are also unavailable. The absences make Rrahmani’s recovery particularly valuable, with the coming weeks set to test the depth of Allegri’s squad before the international interruption and the subsequent meeting with Torino.
