Napoli Lose David Neres for Venezia After Villarreal Muscle Injury

Napoli’s preparations for the meeting with Venezia have been complicated by another injury concern, with David Neres ruled out after sustaining a muscle problem during the Champions League match against Villarreal.

Massimiliano Allegri will have one fewer attacking option available for the fixture against Nicola’s Venezia. The Brazilian winger felt discomfort during the European encounter with Villarreal, and subsequent examinations confirmed a low-grade injury to the semimembranosus muscle in his right thigh.

Neres underwent tests at Pineta Grande Hospital after the match. Napoli confirmed that the player has already begun his rehabilitation programme, but did not give an expected date for his return.

The absence narrows Allegri’s choices in the wide attacking areas at a stage of the season when Napoli are balancing league commitments with European football. There is no indication yet of how many matches Neres could miss.

  1. Neres reported a muscular issue during Napoli’s Champions League match against Villarreal.
  2. Medical scans identified a minor lesion in the semimembranosus of his right thigh.
  3. The winger has started rehabilitation, while Napoli continue to assess his recovery timetable.
