VfB Stuttgart midfielder Nikolas Nartey has been added to Denmark’s squad for two Nations League fixtures and could make his second senior international appearance.
Denmark recall for Stuttgart midfielder
Denmark coach Brian Riemer has called up the 26-year-old after an injury to Manchester United player Patrick Dorgu.
- Nartey made his Denmark debut in late March, appearing in a 4-0 World Cup qualifying win over North Macedonia.
- He then missed time with a thigh problem at Stuttgart.
- The midfielder returned during the international break, playing 30 minutes in Stuttgart’s 3-0 friendly victory over 1. FC Heidenheim.
- Dorgu suffered a hamstring injury during Denmark’s 2-0 win against Wales, opening a place in Riemer’s group.
- Nartey has now been brought into the squad for the remaining Nations League matches against Portugal and Wales.
Portugal first, Wales away
Denmark host Portugal in Copenhagen on Thursday before travelling to Wales for Sunday’s return match. Both games kick off at 20:45.
The 1992 European champions are third in League A, Group 4 with three points. Riemer’s side lost 3-2 in Norway before beating Wales at home.
Nartey’s versatility gives Denmark another attacking-minded midfield option as he looks to build on his first cap.
