Noa Lang Contrasts Allegri Relationship After Napoli Goal

Noa Lang’s first goal of the season for Napoli became more than a post-match footnote after the win over Frosinone. The Dutch forward used the occasion to describe a markedly different relationship with Massimiliano Allegri, while making a pointed comparison with last season under Antonio Conte.

The decision

Lang did not mention Conte by name when discussing a difficult previous campaign, but his reference was unmistakable. He said the principal change was communication with the current Napoli coach.

“The biggest difference is that this coach speaks to me, unlike the one from last year,” Lang said. “He tells me what I have to do and how I should move on the pitch. He gives me the freedom to find spaces, and that is a major difference.”

The winger said he now feels Allegri’s confidence, both in the messages he receives and in the responsibility placed upon him during matches. For Lang, that trust has become central after a season he described as far from his best.

“Everyone knows last season was difficult, not my best, with the previous coach,” he said. “Now I feel the confidence of the current one. I feel that Allegri believes in me. He tells me what I can improve and what I am doing well. I want to work hard for the team.”

Napoli’s match against Frosinone also brought Lang his first goal of the campaign. He welcomed the moment but was careful not to treat it as an ending point.

“It is very important for me, but there is still plenty to improve,” Lang said. “We hope to keep going like this.”

For Napoli, the episode adds another layer to the season’s internal story. Allegri’s work is being judged through results and the development of his squad, while Lang’s public words suggest that the player sees a clearer role and a more direct line of guidance than he did a year ago.
