Olympique de Marseille Part Ways With Sporting Coordinator Bob Tahri

Marseille’s sporting department has undergone another quiet reshuffle, with Bob Tahri leaving Olympique de Marseille after less than a year at the club. The 47-year-old had become an increasingly influential figure around the first team before his departure during September.

Key takeaways

  • OM and Bob Tahri agreed to end their working relationship.
  • Tahri joined Marseille in December 2024 after being recruited by sporting director Medhi Benatia.
  • His original player-care assignment expanded into a wider sporting coordination role.
  • He was the subject of a moral-harassment investigation opened in June following complaints from several employees.
  • During the investigation, he remained employed but stopped attending the club’s training complex and most first-team trips.

A rapid rise inside Marseille

Tahri arrived initially to look after the practical needs of players and their families, in a player-care position created under Benatia. He quickly earned the sporting director’s confidence and saw his responsibilities grow well beyond that first brief.

His work extended across a range of areas, including nutrition, physical preparation and injury management. He also became a link between the senior squad and the reserve side, taking on the role of sporting coordinator as his influence increased.

That rise was not without friction. Tahri developed strained relationships within the club, including around the dressing room, during months of internal tension.

Investigation preceded September exit

An investigation into alleged moral harassment was launched in June after several staff members made complaints, shortly after the arrival of the club’s new leadership.

Tahri stayed in his post while interviews were carried out, although he was no longer present at the sporting facilities and did not travel with the first team. The exception was the squad’s pre-season stay in Ivory Coast.

Marseille confirmed only that both parties had decided to bring their collaboration to an end. There was no public farewell or formal message of thanks as Tahri left the club during September.
