In Copenhagen, Portugal’s national team found a divided welcome before taking the field. Some supporters directed whistles and insults at the Portuguese coach as he left the team hotel, while the mood inside the stadium carried a different message for Cristiano Ronaldo.
The news from the club
The coach was confronted by a section of fans outside the hotel in the Danish capital, where jeers and abusive remarks were heard as the squad prepared for its match.
Later, at the ground, banners were displayed in support of Ronaldo. The signs of backing for CR7 contrasted with the hostile reception aimed at Portugal’s manager earlier in the day.
