Yellow appeared in the Paris Saint-Germain away end at Strasbourg on Saturday night, but it was not the colour of an unexpected visiting club. At the Meinau, more than a dozen PSG supporters wore high-visibility yellow vests during the Ligue 1 match.
PSG fans show support for cost-of-living protest
The gesture took place on the left-hand side of the Paris section during PSG’s trip to Strasbourg for the seventh round of the French league season.
- PSG supporters travelled to Alsace for Saturday’s fixture at the Meinau Stadium.
- More than ten fans in the away allocation put on yellow vests rather than wearing yellow shirts.
- The display was intended as a sign of solidarity with the “cost of living” mobilisation held on Saturday, 17 October 2026.
- The protest date had been called in part by former figures from the Yellow Vests movement, which became a major force during Emmanuel Macron’s first presidential term in 2018.
The colour therefore carried a political message rather than a footballing rivalry. There were no misplaced Lens or Nantes followers in the Strasbourg stands: the yellow belonged to a small group of Paris fans making their position visible on a night of Ligue 1 football.
