Raphinha left the Sánchez-Pizjuán with the match ball and another slice of Spanish football history. Barcelona’s Brazilian forward struck all three goals in Saturday’s 3-1 win over Sevilla, hours after sporting director Deco announced a new four-year contract.
The hat-trick took Raphinha to 12 goals from Barcelona’s opening seven La Liga matches. He has also scored twice in the Champions League, turning the early part of the campaign into a remarkable personal run.

His 12-goal total has moved beyond Lionel Messi’s return of 11 at the same stage of Barcelona’s 2017-18 league season. The only player to post a higher figure in the 21st century is Cristiano Ronaldo, who had 13 goals after seven matches for Real Madrid in 2014-15.
The Sevilla display also carried a rarer distinction. Raphinha became only the second Barcelona player in the past 20 years to complete a perfect La Liga hat-trick, scoring with both feet and his head.
Luis Suárez was the previous Barcelona player to do it, against Córdoba in May 2015. Raphinha, fifth in the 2025 Ballon d’Or standings but absent from this year’s shortlist, has now added another benchmark to his sharp start in Spain.
