Madrid moves from a dramatic European night to a demanding domestic afternoon on Sunday, when Real Madrid host Sevilla at the Santiago Bernabéu in the ninth round of La Liga. The match carries particular weight for Endrick, who has offered a timely reminder of his value after helping overturn a two-goal deficit against Roma in midweek.
The news from the club
Vinícius Júnior begins a four-match suspension with the visit of Sevilla, opening a space in Madrid’s attacking options. Endrick, the other Brazilian forward in José Mourinho’s squad, has had limited minutes but made a decisive impact in Wednesday’s Champions League victory in Rome.
Real were 3-1 behind when Endrick entered during the second half. His header was saved by Pierluigi Gollini before Carlos Espí scored from the rebound, and the Brazilian then headed in the equaliser himself. He also forced the corner from which Antonio Rüdiger struck the winning goal.
Mourinho praised the 20-year-old’s influence after the comeback, saying Endrick “finished the match” and deserved recognition for his performance. The coach described Madrid’s late pressure as a footballing “avalanche”, noting that his side won roughly seven corners in 10 minutes and that the three goals arrived from set pieces.
There is another Brazilian return in the Madrid squad. Centre-back Éder Militão has been selected again after six months out with a muscle injury, an absence that ruled him out of the closing stages of last season and the World Cup.
