Roma will have travelling support again when Gian Piero Gasperini’s side resume their Serie A campaign at Como on Sunday 11 October, ending a restriction that had kept Giallorossi fans away from away grounds for almost nine months.
Away following restored for the Como trip
Supporters will be able to make the journey to Como without the limits that had applied to Roma’s previous league trips. The decision gives Gasperini’s team a full visiting contingent again as the championship returns after the break.
Roma fans had last been present outside the Stadio Olimpico on 18 January, when their side won 2-0 away to Torino. Events on the same day then led to a long period without organised travel for the club’s supporters.
The background to the restriction
- On 18 January, clashes took place on a motorway involving groups of Roma and Fiorentina supporters.
- A ban on Roma fans attending away matches was subsequently imposed through to the end of the 2025-26 season.
- The measure was extended week by week into the new campaign.
- Roma supporters were therefore unable to attend the trip to Lecce on 31 August.
- The restriction also remained in force for the 14 September visit to Torino.
A different Sunday for Gasperini’s Roma
The Como fixture will mark the first time since the January win in Turin that Roma can count on their followers in the away section. For Gasperini and his players, it restores a familiar part of an Italian league afternoon: the travelling support that accompanies a side beyond its own stadium.
After the opening away matches of the season were played without Roma fans, the October journey to Como now becomes the point at which that absence ends.
