A compact draw with a deep entry list
Rybakina’s title defence comes at one of the final WTA 500 stops of the season, and the Kazakh will face a field packed with established contenders and rising names.
Pegula, Svitolina, Swiatek and Kostyuk join Rybakina among the leading entrants. The direct-acceptance list also features Belinda Bencic, Iva Jovic, Diana Shnaider, Sorana Cirstea, Alexandra Eala, Elise Mertens and Jasmine Paolini.
Anna Kalinskaya, Maja Chwalinska, Marie Bouzkova, Ekaterina Alexandrova and Sara Bejlek complete the direct-entry group.

Finals race adds weight to Ningbo week
Ningbo is the penultimate WTA 500 event on the calendar, giving the tournament added importance for players chasing a place at the season-ending WTA Finals.
Rybakina knows how pivotal the Chinese swing can be. Her Ningbo title last season helped secure her year-end berth, before she went on to win the WTA Finals.
Svitolina, Karolina Muchova and Linda Noskova presently hold the sixth, seventh and eighth qualifying positions in the PIF WTA Race to the Finals. Noskova, as a Grand Slam champion, would still qualify unless she drops below No. 20 in the standings.
Swiatek is currently ninth in the race and Kostyuk 10th, leaving both outside the automatic qualifying places entering Ningbo.
The event is played on outdoor hard courts. It first appeared as a WTA 125 tournament in 2013 and 2014, returned after a nine-year absence as a WTA 250 in 2023, and was elevated to WTA 500 status the following year.
First-round matches begin on Oct. 19, while the singles and doubles champions will be decided on Oct. 25.
