Silvano Vos Returns to Milan’s First-Team Matchday Squad at Udinese

Silvano Vos is back in Milan’s senior matchday picture for the trip to Udine, joining several Milan Futuro team-mates on the bench after a season in which his path has begun to clear again. For the Dutch midfielder, the call is another small but meaningful step after two difficult years in Italy.

A talent Milan expected to rise quickly

When Milan signed Vos from Ajax for €5 million, the plan was measured but ambitious: develop him with the second team, then bring him into the first-team environment. Born in 2005 and inspired by Clarence Seedorf, he had arrived with a reputation as a technically gifted midfielder capable of controlling games.

That promise was evident two seasons ago, when Milan Futuro drew 1-1 with Carpi. Carpi coach Christian Serpini singled out Vos and Alex Jimenez after the final whistle, saying he saw them as players operating above that level. Vos had controlled the midfield that day, strengthening the sense that his move towards the senior side would not take long.

  • Vos was brought in from Ajax for €5 million.
  • He trained on several occasions with Paulo Fonseca’s first-team squad during the 2024-25 campaign.
  • Standing close to 1.90 metres, he can be used as an attacking midfielder or in a more conventional central midfield role.
  • His early technical ability had already drawn notice at Ajax: in 2015, before Ajax against Willem II, he kept the ball in the air 3,178 times during an academy display.

After ending that juggling challenge, the young Vos said he could have continued.

Two testing years away from the expected route

The progression did not unfold as Milan had imagined. Fitness issues, a difficult adjustment to Italian football, language barriers and personal challenges all slowed the midfielder’s development. The player once seen as approaching a decisive stage of his career instead had to rebuild his confidence and his place within the club.

That process has been helped by Sergio Navarro, Milan Futuro’s Spanish coach. Navarro’s work with Vos at the beginning of the season was centred less on training-ground instruction than on individual conversations about life beyond football: family, friends and personal interests.

The intention was to give the 21-year-old greater calm and stability. Vos and Navarro remain in frequent contact, and the effect has been visible in the second team’s Serie D campaign.

Form restored with Milan Futuro

Vos has made an immediate contribution this season, scoring twice and setting up another goal across his first four Serie D appearances. Those numbers do not settle his future, but they underline the change in a player who had spent so long trying to recover momentum.

  • Four Serie D matches played this season.
  • Two goals scored.
  • One assist provided.
  • A place on the bench in Udine alongside other Milan Futuro players.

Milan have not lost sight of the player they recruited from Ajax. Vos remains a versatile, physically imposing midfielder with the technical quality that first distinguished him in Amsterdam. His return to the senior group in Udine is not the end of the story, but it offers a reminder that his route has reopened.
