Sorriso Stars as Famalicão Thrash Nacional 4-0 for First Liga Portugal Win

On the Atlantic side of Portugal, Famalicão found the release they had been seeking in the seventh round of Liga Portugal, sweeping Nacional aside 4-0 away from home for their first win of the season. Brazilian forward Sorriso shaped the afternoon with two goals and an assist.

A breakthrough in Madeira

  1. Famalicão travelled to face Nacional after a difficult opening to the league campaign, marked by draws and defeats and a recent change of head coach.
  2. Sorriso, the former Juventude and Red Bull Bragantino attacker, struck twice and supplied another goal in the four-goal victory.
  3. It was the first time the 24-year-old from Rio Grande do Norte had scored twice in one match since joining Famalicão.
  4. The result delivered Famalicão’s first league victory of the campaign, with the Brazilian playing the decisive role in a badly needed response.

“It is very rewarding,” Sorriso said. “It comes from our work. We went through a coaching change and had to adapt to that process. We had been looking for this win, and it arrived at the right moment.”

He described the display as a turning point after the club’s unconvincing start. “We did not begin the league very well, with draws and losses, but we have kept working quietly and with humility. I managed to score again and help the team with goals and an assist, which is what I want most.”

A growing mark at Famalicão

The performance also placed Sorriso among the weekend’s most highly rated Brazilian players in Europe’s leading leagues. His Sofascore mark of 9.6 was second only to Barcelona’s Raphinha, who received a perfect 10.

Now in his fourth Portuguese season, Sorriso has made 87 appearances for Famalicão, registering 17 goals and 11 assists. No other club in his professional career has brought him more direct goal contributions.

Club Appearances Goals Assists
Juventude 50 4 4
Red Bull Bragantino 92 11 4
Famalicão 87 17 11

Developed at Juventude before moving through Bragantino and then across the Atlantic, Sorriso has become an established figure in Famalicão’s Portuguese chapter. His two-goal afternoon against Nacional gives both player and club a firmer foothold after an unsettled start.
