Logan Stankoven turned a slick Sean Walker feed into the opening goal of his first NHL hat trick, then added two more against the Vancouver Canucks to reach 100 career NHL points.
Walker threads the opening pass
The Hurricanes created the chance on a 2-on-1 rush up the right side, with Walker carrying the puck and Stankoven arriving as the finishing option.
Canucks defenseman Filip Hronek slid across to take away the passing lane, dropping low with his knee and skate on the ice. Walker found the narrow gap anyway, slipping the puck underneath Hronek and onto Stankoven’s stick.
Stankoven converted the chance for his first goal of the night, setting the tone for a three-goal performance.
Milestone night for Stankoven
Stankoven scored twice more after Walker’s setup, completing the first hat trick of his NHL career. The outburst also carried him to the 100-point mark in the league.
The first finish was built on a pass that had almost no room to get through. Once Walker beat Hronek’s sliding block, Stankoven made sure the Hurricanes had the payoff.
