Stuttgart strengthened their early Champions League position with a 3-0 win at Slovan Bratislava, making it two victories from their opening two league-phase matches and moving closer to at least a place in the play-off round. The Slovak side, meanwhile, remain rooted near the bottom of the table.

Angelo Stiller again set the rhythm for Sebastian Hoeness’s side, completing 90% of his passes and supplying the assist for Deniz Undav’s opening goal. The German midfielder had appeared on Real Madrid’s radar a couple of summers ago, and his continued presence in the Bundesliga remains notable given his influence on a Stuttgart team that has challenged Bayern Munich in recent seasons. Slovan, coached by Yaya Touré, could not sustain their opening intensity.
Stiller takes control in Bratislava
Slovan tried to press high from the outset, but their approach faded within four minutes. Stuttgart then established possession, with Stiller dictating the contest from deep and repeatedly finding space against the home side’s retreating shape.
The breakthrough came through his delivery. Stiller released Undav into the area, where the forward took the ball with an advantage over his marker and drove a low left-footed finish across goal.
Josha Vagnoman nearly doubled the visitors’ lead before the interval, only for his effort to strike the crossbar. Stuttgart had the command of the game, although Slovan briefly appeared to have found a route back after half-time.
VAR reprieve before Stuttgart finish the job
The hosts emerged with renewed force after the restart and soon had the ball in the net through Spanish-Gambian forward Suleiman Camara. The former Girona player, however, was offside and VAR ruled the goal out.
That moment did not shift the balance for long. Stuttgart reclaimed control and made the result safer around the hour mark when Vagnoman’s cross was turned into Slovan’s own net by Sandro Cruz.
Ermedin Demirovic added the third goal late on to complete a composed away performance. For Stuttgart, the result gives their European week a clear direction before Atlético arrive as the next Champions League test; for Slovan, another defeat leaves a steep climb from the foot of the standings.
