Stuttgart tightened their hold on an unbeaten Champions League campaign with a composed 3-0 win at Slovan Bratislava, a result that took the German side to six points and left the Slovak champions rooted to the bottom of the table.
| Match | Score | Key outcome |
|---|---|---|
| Slovan Bratislava v Stuttgart | 0-3 | Stuttgart move to 6 points and remain unbeaten |
| Slovan Bratislava v Paris Saint-Germain | 1-6 | Slovan had entered the round bottom of the standings |
Slovan were led by Ivorian coach Touré Yayá, while Stuttgart arrived after beating Norway’s Viking in their opening match and recording three successive victories in all competitions. The visitors carried that confidence into Tehelné Pole, despite difficult conditions on the left side of a worn pitch.
Undav opens the way
Gambia international Suleiman Camara, born in Sant Celoni near Barcelona, repeatedly attacked Josha Vagnoman down Slovan’s left. Yet Vagnoman also became a major attacking outlet for Stuttgart, featuring in several of the visitors’ best first-half moments.
Stuttgart gradually established territory and used the aerial presence of their defenders to unsettle the home side at set pieces. Denis Undav had already threatened from one such situation before breaking the deadlock shortly before the half-hour.
The forward finished a sharp combination involving Vagnoman and Angelo Stiller to register his first goal of the season, putting Stuttgart in control of a demanding European away night.
VAR denies Slovan before Stuttgart pull clear
Slovan believed they had found a response early in the second half when Camara’s persistence produced a goal. After a lengthy VAR review, however, the effort was ruled out and the hosts were denied an equaliser.
The home team continued to press, but their chances disappeared soon afterwards. Sandro Cruz, the Angola international, had struck the post moments earlier before diverting a Vagnoman cross into his own net.
With Slovan’s hopes extinguished, Stuttgart added a third near the end. Ermedin Demirovic met a precise delivery from right-back Assignon and headed home to complete a convincing away victory.
The result deepened Slovan’s difficult start after the heavy defeat to reigning champions Paris Saint-Germain, while Stuttgart left Bratislava with their unbeaten record intact and their European week firmly on course.
