Toulouse’s weekend will have a different rhythm under the autumn lights. The Ligue 1 meeting with Troyes has been pushed back by 24 hours after local authorities requested a change because of exceptional police deployment expected on Saturday.
Key takeaways
- Toulouse will now host Troyes on Sunday 25 October at 17:15 rather than Saturday 24 October.
- The switch concerns Ligue 1’s eighth round and was agreed with broadcaster Ligue 1+.
- Authorities in Haute-Garonne cited the possibility of demonstrations across France and the resulting demand on security forces.
- Montpellier’s Ligue 2 fixture against Red Star has also moved, from Saturday afternoon to Monday night.
- Lens versus Paris FC remains scheduled for Saturday evening in Ligue 1.
Security pressure reshapes the schedule
The Haute-Garonne prefecture asked for Toulouse-Troyes to be moved as police resources are expected to be heavily committed on Saturday. The match had originally been due to kick off at 17:15 on 24 October, but will instead take place at the same time on Sunday 25 October.
Local authorities in Toulouse have also announced a night-time curfew from Thursday through Sunday around the Capitole and in several central shopping streets. The city is facing a particularly busy Saturday, with Stade Toulousain set to welcome Perpignan at Ernest-Wallon in a rugby fixture beginning at 16:35.
Elsewhere in the top flight, Lens-Paris FC is still due to go ahead on Saturday at 20:45.
Changes also affect lower divisions
Saturday’s pressure on policing has led to further alterations beyond Ligue 1. Bordeaux’s Regional 1 match against Stade Montois has been shifted from Saturday to Sunday.
In Ligue 2, Montpellier versus Red Star will no longer be played at 14:00 on Saturday. At the request of the Hérault prefecture, it has been rescheduled for Monday at 20:45.
Two other Ligue 2 games remain on the Saturday programme: Dijon-Rodez and Saint-Etienne-Nantes.
