Tyler Huntley to Start as Ravens Rule Lamar Jackson Out Against Falcons

Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson has been ruled out for Sunday night’s road game against the Atlanta Falcons after injuring his ankle in last week’s victory over the Tennessee Titans. Head coach Jesse Minter confirmed Friday that Tyler Huntley will start in Jackson’s place.

What changed for the franchise

Jackson had been viewed as a remote possibility for Week 5, but he did not practice at any point during the week. The two-time AP NFL MVP suffered the ankle injury against Tennessee, though the injury is not believed to be a long-term concern.

The immediate question for Baltimore is how long Jackson will be unavailable. He has previously missed multiple games in three separate seasons, including four games last year, when the Ravens did not reach the postseason.

Huntley, known as “Snoop,” steps in for his 12th career start with Baltimore. The sixth-year quarterback initially played for the Ravens from 2020 through 2023, spent the 2024 season with the Miami Dolphins, and returned to Baltimore in 2025.

He owns a 7-9 career record as a starter, including a 5-6 mark with the Ravens and a 2-3 record with Miami. Huntley took over after Jackson exited against the Titans and completed eight of nine passes for 63 yards.

Baltimore has been markedly different with and without Jackson since he became its regular starter in Week 11 of the 2018 season. Jackson has posted a 79-32 record in his starts, while the Ravens have gone 6-11 in games he has missed over that span.

The Ravens enter the matchup at 3-1 and will face a Falcons team carrying a 2-2 record.

Sunday night matchup

Huntley and Baltimore will visit Atlanta on Sunday, with kickoff scheduled for 8:20 p.m. ET. The Ravens will look to maintain their early-season momentum while relying on Huntley to guide the offense against a Falcons club that has been playing well entering the primetime game.
