In Rio de Janeiro, Vasco da Gama failed to find the lift they needed in their fight to stay clear of danger, drawing with Remo in a result that leaves both clubs looking anxiously at the lower reaches of the Brazilian standings.
Quick facts
- Vasco da Gama drew with Remo.
- Remo arrived in the relegation places.
- The point does not take Vasco clear of the relegation battle.
The stalemate was particularly frustrating for the Carioca side given Remo’s position in the drop zone. A home-side push for separation from the bottom of the table instead produced only one point.
Vasco therefore remain involved in the struggle against relegation, with the draw doing little to ease the pressure around the club. Remo, meanwhile, collected a result away from home while still occupying a place in the danger area.
