AC Milan’s boardroom is taking another step in its reorganisation under Gerry Cardinale, with James Fontanella-Khan set to join the club as Chief Corporate Affairs Officer.
Fontanella-Khan, currently the US Finance Editor at the Financial Times, will leave the British financial newspaper in October to begin his new role with the Rossoneri. Born in 1983 and of Italian background, he will work between Milan and New York.
A corporate appointment during a wider rebuild
The arrival of Fontanella-Khan comes while Cardinale and RedBird continue to shape Milan’s executive structure. The club is also expected to appoint a new Head of Football in the coming months, a decision that will further define the sporting leadership around the first team.
Fontanella-Khan’s responsibilities will concern Milan’s corporate affairs at a significant point in RedBird’s plans for the club. His appointment adds a figure with a financial journalism background to a board structure that has been adjusted again as the ownership develops its long-term projects in Milan.
For Milan, the work away from the pitch remains closely tied to the season-long direction of the club: building an organisation capable of supporting football decisions, commercial ambitions and the wider strategy set by Cardinale’s ownership.
