AC Milan have chosen a moment of uncertainty to underline one point of continuity: Strahinja Pavlovic has committed his future to the club until 2031, with an option for a further season.
The Serbian defender has become an increasingly central figure in a Milan side still searching for authority and consistency. His new agreement reflects the faith of both the club and coach Amorim, who has relied on him without interruption during the opening phase of the campaign.
After seven matches this season, Pavlovic is the only outfield player in the squad to have played every available minute. It is a statistic that illustrates his standing in the group more clearly than the timing of the contract alone: Milan see him as one of the players around whom stability can be built.
A long-term commitment before Salzburg
The extension had been expected for several months, but negotiations gathered pace in recent weeks as player and club moved towards a clear agreement. Pavlovic was also keen to settle his position early in the summer and remove any prospect of transfer speculation around his name.
His previous deal ran until 2028 and included an option for an additional year. He had been earning €1.7 million net per season, with the revised salary set to be approximately double that amount.
The announcement comes only hours before Milan’s European meeting with Salzburg, the club from whom the Rossoneri signed Pavlovic in the summer of 2024. It gives the occasion an added thread: a return, in a sense, to the place where Milan found a defender now entrusted with a much longer role in their project.
There is still work to do on other important contracts at the club. Christian Pulisic and Adrien Rabiot are the two principal renewal cases remaining on Gerry Cardinale’s table, but Milan have first secured Pavlovic as a fixed point for the seasons ahead.
