“When I commit to something, giving 100 per cent does not feel enough,” he explains. “I always do more, even if it means putting everything else aside.”
The 35-year-old says his commitment to coaching has come at a personal cost. He has no wife or children, and says several relationships have ended because football consumed so much of his time. The attention required by players, their families and their development often leaves little space for himself, relatives or friends.
“That is what it means to be an educator,” Hedi says, describing a life shaped by service to young footballers as much as by training sessions and matchdays.
