Europe’s early-season prospect ledger is filling quickly, with a pair of Swedish junior standouts forcing the issue, a goaltender in Färjestad posting video-game numbers and several NHL-drafted forwards carrying the offense in the KHL, SHL and beyond. Statistics are through Thursday’s games.
Swedish prospects pushing for bigger assignments
Minnesota Wild pick Adam Andersson has exploded out of the gate for Leksand’s junior side. The 18-year-old center has eight goals and 10 assists in 12 games, putting him at 18 points after producing 17 points in 30 junior contests last season.
That scoring surge also brought Andersson his first taste of Allsvenskan hockey with Leksand’s senior club. He recorded one shot in 5:24 of ice time. Minnesota selected him 83rd overall in the third round of the 2026 NHL Draft.
Colorado Avalanche defense prospect Axel Elofsson has made an immediate impact in his first full professional season. The 18-year-old Oskarshamn blueliner has 10 assists in 11 Allsvenskan games after posting nine goals and 32 assists in 32 games for Örebro’s junior team last year.
Elofsson also dressed six times for Örebro in the SHL last season, though his highest single-game workload was 6:22. Colorado took him with the 128th pick of the 2026 draft.
Chicago Blackhawks prospect Joel Svensson is supplying the finish for Oskarshamn. The 21-year-old center has 10 goals and five assists in 11 Allsvenskan games, including four goals across his past five outings. He has already cleared the six-goal total he managed over 51 games with Oskarshamn a season ago.
Svensson was a fifth-round selection, 138th overall, in the 2024 NHL Draft.
Färjestad’s Flyers center and Utah’s hot goalie
Philadelphia Flyers prospect Jack Berglund has eight points in eight SHL games for Färjestad, with three goals and five assists. His latest four-game stretch has produced two goals and four assists, and he has already equaled last season’s five-assist total despite playing only eight games.
The 20-year-old center had seven goals and 12 points in 40 SHL games last season, then scored once in five AHL appearances with Lehigh Valley. Berglund, Philadelphia’s No. 51 pick in 2024, is back in Sweden on loan from the Flyers.
At the other end of the Färjestad bench, Utah Mammoth goalie prospect Melker Thelin has opened the year at 4-0-0 with a 0.50 goals-against average, a .983 save percentage and two shutouts. The 21-year-old has surrendered only two goals on 114 shots in four SHL appearances.
Thelin’s start is a dramatic step up from his first SHL campaign, when he went 10-8-0 with a 2.44 GAA, .899 save percentage and two shutouts in 21 games. He was drafted by the Arizona Coyotes in the fifth round, 134th overall, in 2023.
KHL scorers remain in rhythm
St. Louis Blues prospect Matvei Korotky sits third on SKA St. Petersburg with 10 points in 13 KHL games. The 20-year-old center has four goals and six assists, following a 2025-26 season in which he recorded 14 goals and 13 assists in 43 KHL games.
The Blues selected Korotky 211th overall in the seventh round of the 2024 draft.
Buffalo Sabres winger Prokhor Poltapov is on a goal-scoring tear for CSKA Moscow. The 23-year-old has eight goals and four assists in 15 KHL games, and his power-play marker was the only goal in Wednesday’s 1-0 win over Dynamo Minsk.
Poltapov has scored in four consecutive games and owns five goals and three assists during a five-game point streak. Buffalo drafted him in the second round, 33rd overall, in 2021.
Production across Finland and Switzerland
Pittsburgh Penguins prospect Emil Järventie is piling up goals for Tappara’s junior team in Finland. The 21-year-old left wing has struck for 15 goals in 11 games and added three assists, giving him 18 points.
Last season, Järventie moved between three levels in Finland: Tappara’s junior club, Pyry in Mestis and one Liiga appearance with Tappara’s top team. He had five goals and seven assists in eight junior games, then collected seven goals and 10 assists with Pyry. Pittsburgh chose him 217th overall in the 2023 draft.
Montreal Canadiens prospect Vinzenz Rohrer has found a fresh offensive spark after moving to Zug. The 22-year-old center has two goals and six assists in seven National League games, nearly matching the 12 points he produced in 41 league games for ZSC last season.
Rohrer closed last season with a goal and an assist in his AHL debut for Laval, then added one assist in five Calder Cup Playoff games. Montreal selected him in the third round, 75th overall, in 2022.
