Adama Camara Extends Paris FC Contract Until 2028

Adama Camara’s rise has gathered pace in recent weeks, from a fixed place on Paris FC’s right flank to his first appearances for Mali. The 29-year-old has now committed his future to the Paris club until 2028 after agreeing a one-year contract extension.

A longer stay after a rapid rise

Camara has been an automatic starter since the start of the season, operating as the right-sided wing-back in Paris FC’s system. The extension adds one year to his previous deal and reflects an agreement shared by player and club.

  • Camara, 29, has extended his Paris FC contract by one season.
  • He is now under contract with the club until 2028.
  • The Mali international joined Paris FC in 2023 from Racing, then playing in National 2.
  • He earned his first two senior caps for Mali during the latest international window.

“I am happy,” Camara said. “It was something both the club and I wanted. It is one year, but it could become longer if both sides wish.”

Born in Bondy, in Seine-Saint-Denis, Camara said the scale of his progress was not always easy to assess, though he acknowledged that the past few weeks had been especially eventful.

From midfielder to modern right-back

Originally developed as a midfielder, Camara has established himself on the right of the defence for both Paris FC and Mali. His role is not that of a conventional full-back: without possession he drops into the defensive line, while with the ball he moves inside to operate in midfield.

“When we do not have the ball, I am a full-back; when we have it, I play in midfield,” he explained. “In matches where we control possession, I am almost always in midfield. But as soon as we lose the ball, I have to recover my position as a full-back.”

Demands of the hybrid role

  • The position requires repeated high-intensity runs and greater physical capacity.
  • Camara has had to work on the tactical details of playing on the right side of defence.
  • He said regular match time has made the role increasingly natural.
  • Stéphane Gilli was the first coach to use him in the position.

Camara said Mali coach Anthony Da Siva had watched Paris FC closely, appreciated the approach put in place by Rosenior, and instructed him to reproduce the same style for the national side.

“The more I play there, the more accustomed I become to it, and it gets easier,” Camara said. “There are tactical elements to learn, so it needs concentration, but I have adapted.”

Lorient next for Camara

Paris FC travel to Lorient on Saturday, giving Camara another chance to show how fully he has settled into a role that now links his club football with his international breakthrough.
