AJ Dybantsa Ruled Out for Wizards’ Game Against Raptors

AJ Dybantsa remains unavailable for Washington’s Friday night home game against Toronto, keeping the Wizards’ top draft pick out of the rotation as the regular season gets underway.

Coach Brian Keefe said Dybantsa is still day-to-day after being hurt in Washington’s preseason finale. Keefe does not expect the No. 1 overall selection in the 2026 NBA Draft to be sidelined for an extended stretch.

From the locker room

Dybantsa appeared in four preseason games before the injury, posting 12.8 points, 3.8 rebounds, 1.8 assists and 1.5 steals per night.

His strongest preseason showing came against Detroit, where he finished with 14 points and seven rebounds. The rookie flashed the two-way versatility Washington hoped to see from the first pick, contributing on the glass and creating defensive activity along with his scoring.

The Wizards will continue to monitor his condition rather than rush him back, with Keefe characterizing the absence as a short-term, day-to-day situation.
