Manchester City’s midweek cup night at the Etihad Stadium gave Allan an immediate first memory in English football. The 22-year-old Brazilian, signed from Palmeiras in August, scored once and created another in a 5-0 League Cup victory over Norwich City on Thursday.

Allan made his Manchester City debut in the third round of the English League Cup and was involved in two of the five goals against Norwich.
His first contribution came after 28 minutes. Capitalising on an error by Norwich goalkeeper Daniel Grimshaw, Allan sent the ball into the centre of the penalty area for Samba to put City ahead.
Three minutes after the restart, the forward added his own name to the scoresheet. Receiving possession on the left, he worked space away from his marker before finishing for his first goal in City colours.
After the match, Allan spoke of the nerves he had carried into the occasion and the scale of his satisfaction with the debut.
“I’m very happy. I was really anxious about making my debut,” he said. “I could not have imagined a first match like this, even in my best dreams. I have to keep working, improve and help City more and more.”
A major move from Palmeiras
Manchester City completed Allan’s arrival in August in a deal worth €40 million, around R$240 million. The agreement includes €37.5 million guaranteed to Palmeiras, with a further €2.5 million possible through bonuses.
The Brazilian agreed a five-year contract in Manchester. His sale ranks as Palmeiras’ third-largest transfer, behind only Estêvão’s move to Chelsea and Endrick’s transfer to Real Madrid.
