Angers Aim to Protect Unbeaten Away Start at Brest

Angers return to Ligue 1 with an away record still untouched and a testing Saturday night waiting in Brest. Stéphane Gilli’s side travel to Brittany for a 20:45 kick-off determined to extend their unbeaten start on the road.

The Scoistes headed into the international break on the back of a convincing 2-0 win over Troyes. They have taken four points from their first two league trips, with one victory and one draw.

Quick facts

  • Brest host Angers on Saturday at 20:45.
  • Angers are unbeaten away from home this season: one win and one draw.
  • The visitors last beat Troyes 2-0 before the international window.
  • Right-back Carlens Arcus could be rested after four full matches for Haiti.
  • Several returning players featured in a 3-2 development-game win over Paris Saint-Germain on 30 September.

Gilli said his players were eager for the league campaign to resume, while also welcoming back his international contingent without fresh injuries. That clean return gives Angers a stronger base for the trip west.

There may still be caution around Arcus. The 30-year-old Haiti international played four consecutive 90-minute matches during the break and returned late, making a rest possible at right-back.

The pause also offered valuable minutes to players whose pre-season work had been disrupted by injury. Haris Belkebla and Louis Mouton were among those able to build fitness in a development fixture against Paris Saint-Germain at Poissy on 30 September.

Angers won that match 3-2, a useful piece of work away from the league spotlight. Now comes Brest, and another chance for Gilli’s side to show that their early away resilience can survive a tougher French-season night.
