Bordeaux’s Coupe de France run ended behind closed gates on Sunday, with Angoulême turning an early setback into a crushing 5-1 fourth-round win at Stade Sainte-Germaine in Le Bouscat.
Tom Pottier gave the Girondins the ideal start, scoring after five minutes. The response from Angoulême, second in National 1 Group B, was immediate and ruthless: three goals in eight minutes left Bordeaux chasing a game they would never recover.

Bordeaux had arrived after a straightforward 4-0 victory over Saintes, a Division 2 side, in the previous round. But the afternoon unravelled almost as soon as Pottier had opened the scoring.
Lucas Makan equalised in the sixth minute. Anthony Castera put the Charente club ahead five minutes later, before Théo Chauvier made it 3-1 in the 13th minute.
The Girondins were without players on federal contracts, a status approved by the French federation and available to amateur and semi-professional footballers. Their reduced options showed as Angoulême controlled the contest after the interval.
Alexy Senac struck four minutes into the second half to widen the gap. Thomas Dasquet added the final goal in the 87th minute, sealing Bordeaux’s exit.
The stadium was empty because of punishment imposed following the use of flares last season. Outside the gates, however, Bordeaux ultras gathered to back the team.
The defeat lands at another difficult moment for the club, whose future remains uncertain between a possible regional-level restart and judicial liquidation.
