At Olympiacos, where the Greek coast meets one of Europe’s most demanding football cities, Armando “Hormiga” González has offered supporters an early glimpse of the player and person arriving from Mexico. In a club video, the young forward named Javier “Chicharito” Hernández as the footballer he most admires, identifying the Mexican striker as the reference point for his own career.
“Chicharito, Javier Hernández,” González replied when asked for his greatest idol. The Olympiacos newcomer sees a connection not only in the penalty-box instincts associated with Hernández, but also in their shared grounding in Mexican football.
González is beginning his European chapter with the aim of making an impact in the Greek Super League. Asked to describe his own strengths, he pointed to his movement away from defenders and the high-intensity pressure he applies against opposing back lines—qualities he hopes to sharpen in Piraeus.

The questionnaire also introduced the more personal side of the player known as “Hormiga”. González said anime is among his interests and described himself as a fan of Spider-Man, both in films and television series.
When Olympiacos was mentioned, the first word that came to his mind was “commitment”. Away from football, he named pasta as his favourite food, said trap and reggaeton are the music he most often plays, and revealed that the smiling-face emoji is the one he uses most frequently.
Although his career has now taken him across the Atlantic to Greece, González remains closely connected to Mexico. He selected Aguascalientes, his home city, as his favourite place to visit, carrying that attachment with him as he begins a new season in European football.
