In Belo Horizonte, the Copa Sudamericana’s other semi-final begins with Atlético Mineiro bringing a distinctly Brazilian setting to a tie that will also draw attention in Buenos Aires. Eduardo Domínguez’s Galo welcome their Uruguayan opponents at the Arena MRV, with Boca watching the outcome closely from across the border.
Mineiro arrive at this stage after their quarter-final return against Santos in the same stadium on 16 September 2026, a night in which Domínguez was once again at the centre of the home side’s technical area. The semi-final now offers the Argentine coach another continental examination, this time against Uruguay’s representative.
For Boca, the meeting has significance beyond the immediate contest in Minas Gerais. The result will help shape the remaining route in the competition, making this Brazilian evening one to follow carefully in Argentina as well as in Uruguay.
