Barcelona moved through Getafe with the cold efficiency of a side whose depth is beginning to look as dangerous as its first-choice XI. Even without Raphinha and with Pedri and Pau Cubarsi among the substitutes, the league leaders won 3-0 on Saturday to make it eight victories from eight matches.
Barcelona’s perfect start continues
Raphinha, voted La Liga’s player of the month for both August and September, was absent, while Cubarsi and Pedri began on the bench. Lamine Yamal made a quiet start, but Barcelona still had far too much for Getafe.
- Anthony Gordon opened the scoring in the second minute, registering his first Barcelona goal after already contributing five assists in all competitions. His combination with Djené Dakonam was accidental, and Ramon Terrats diverted Gordon’s shot beyond goalkeeper David Soria.
- Gabriel Jesus doubled the advantage on 30 minutes in his first start for the club. The forward seized on a careless moment from Zaid Romero, winning possession at the defender’s feet before finishing.
- Jules Koundé completed the scoring in the 72nd minute, arriving to meet a cross from Yamal.
Koundé marks his return
The goal capped a significant afternoon for Koundé, who became the most capped French player in Barcelona’s history. The France international, who has 58 caps for Les Bleus, was making his first Blaugrana appearance for a month after remaining unused in each of the previous three league fixtures.
Barcelona’s 24 points from eight rounds maintain their flawless opening to the campaign. They held a provisional nine-point lead over Real Madrid, who were due to host Villarreal later on Saturday.
