Barcelona Eye JJ Gabriel and Jeltsch as Real Madrid Scan Germany

Europe’s transfer picture shifted on 2 October as Barcelona emerged in two separate defensive and youth-market discussions, while Real Madrid monitored options in Germany and Manchester United were urged to consider a high-profile free agent.

Barcelona interest grows around JJ Gabriel and Jeltsch

JJ Gabriel is training in Castelldefels ahead of a decision on his future. The Manchester United player will be free to choose his next club on 6 October, with the signs increasingly pointing towards an exit from Old Trafford.

Barcelona’s interest has intensified speculation that the player could continue his development in Catalonia. His presence in the area has only added to the expectation surrounding his next move.

Barcelona are also watching Stuttgart centre-back Jeltsch, setting up a potential contest with Real Madrid. Madrid had already placed the defender under observation, partly with Antonio Rüdiger’s age in mind and amid fitness concerns involving Asencio.

The possible battle for Jeltsch would put the two Spanish rivals on the same defensive trail, with both clubs looking beyond their immediate needs.

Madrid assess Quansah option

Real Madrid are following Bayer Leverkusen defender Jarell Quansah closely. The 23-year-old can operate at centre-back or on the flank, offering the kind of flexibility valued by clubs preparing for a demanding European calendar.

Any approach would be complicated by Liverpool’s position. The English club still hold significant influence over Quansah’s future through a €70 million buy-back clause, a condition that could make a transfer both difficult and expensive.

Ferdinand names Benzema as a United solution

Ferdinand has suggested that Manchester United should look at Karim Benzema, who is currently without a club, as a way of raising the level of the team’s attacking options.

“Benzema is the obvious name that comes to mind,” Ferdinand said. “In my view, he would have added enormous value to the forward line we have.”
