Barcelona’s financial recovery has reached a landmark in Catalonia: the Spanish champions have reported annual revenue above €1 billion for the first time, taking their place alongside Real Madrid at a level previously untouched by any other European club.
A new financial marker in Barcelona
- At the club’s assembly last weekend, Barcelona presented accounts for the 2025/26 season showing revenue of €1.060 billion, approximately $1.207 billion.
- The total was €66 million higher than in the previous financial year, following a campaign in which Barcelona won the Spanish league title.
- Despite the record turnover, the club did not post an overall profit. Its net result for 2025/26 was a loss of €18 million.
- If the figures are accepted in the Deloitte Football Money League, Barcelona would become only the second European club to generate more than €1 billion in revenue across a single season.
Madrid were the first side to cross that frontier, doing so in 2023/24 with revenue of €1.040 billion. Their income then rose to €1.160 billion in 2024/25, keeping the Bernabéu club at the summit of the European revenue table.
Barcelona’s latest total would place them behind their historic rivals and ahead of Bayern Munich, Paris Saint-Germain and Liverpool in that ranking. For a club still working through a long-term economic repair programme, the milestone carries significance beyond the comparison with Madrid.
The target for 2026/27
Barcelona’s board sees the latest accounts as evidence that its recovery plan is advancing, though the remaining loss underlines that higher income alone has not yet settled every financial issue. The aim is to build recurring revenue while restoring a sustainable balance sheet and retaining the capacity to compete at the highest sporting level.
