Barcelona enters the first substantial international pause of the 2026-27 season with its domestic rhythm temporarily interrupted but much of its squad still in motion across the continent and beyond. Seventeen Barça players have received national-team call-ups, spread among nine countries, leaving Hansi Flick with only a small group at the training ground.
The international programme runs from 24 September until 6 October, while league football is set aside for roughly three weeks. For Flick, the break arrives with Barcelona near the summit of the Liga table after maintaining a flawless winning run, and after adding an emphatic Champions League victory to an encouraging start.
There will be little time for the coach to enjoy that momentum. The concern in Barcelona will be the familiar one of any major international window: minutes played, long journeys and the physical condition of players returning from duty with their countries. With 17 members of the first-team group away, Flick’s work during the pause will be shaped as much by absence as preparation.
The club will reconvene after the final fixtures on 6 October hoping that the strong opening to the campaign has not been disrupted by fatigue or injury. Until then, Barcelona’s season continues in nine different national-team camps, from where its international contingent must make the journey back to Catalonia ready to resume both league and European obligations.
