Barcelona’s first women’s Clásico of the season will begin at 19:00 at Spotify Camp Nou after adverse weather in the Catalan capital forced a two-hour postponement. Barça arrive for the sixth Liga F round with a perfect league record and the chance to protect first place, while Real Madrid come north unbeaten in seven official matches.
The visitors, coached by Pau Quesada, reached Barcelona on Saturday night and spent part of matchday morning walking along the city’s beach and harbour. Their task at Camp Nou is to turn an encouraging start to the campaign into a statement result on blaugrana ground.
Barça’s selected side
Pere Romeu has named Cata Coll in goal, behind a defence of Aïcha, Irene Paredes, Van Asten and Esmee Brugts. Patri Guijarro, Serrajordi and Sydney will form the midfield, with Caroline Graham Hansen, Clàudia Pina and Ewa Pajor leading the attack.
- Goalkeeper: Cata Coll
- Defenders: Aïcha, Irene Paredes, Van Asten, Esmee Brugts
- Midfielders: Patri Guijarro, Serrajordi, Sydney
- Forwards: Caroline Graham Hansen, Clàudia Pina, Ewa Pajor
Aitana Bonmatí was among the Barça players taking in the surroundings on the Camp Nou pitch before kick-off. The three-time Ballon d’Or winner returned to league action in Logroño in Barça’s previous domestic fixture.
Absences and Madrid’s danger
Barça will be without Vicky López. The forward is continuing her recovery from a myofibrillar injury to the rectus femoris in her right thigh and is in the second of the two weeks initially expected by the club.
Real Madrid also travel with a significant midfield absence, as Sandie Toletti remains sidelined by a muscle problem. The French international has been an important source of experience, balance and attacking contribution for Quesada’s team.
Felicia Schröder represents Madrid’s principal scoring threat. The 19-year-old Swedish forward has struck five Liga F goals and has eight in all competitions, bringing sharp form to a fixture that again places Spanish women’s football on one of its biggest stages.
