Bayern Munich Beat Freiburg 3-1 to Maintain Bundesliga Momentum

Bayern Munich won 3-1 at Freiburg on Matchday 7, turning a two-goal first-half lead into a controlled away result at Europa-Park Stadion on Sunday.

  • Dayot Upamecano opened the scoring in the 16th minute, finishing Michael Olise’s counter-attacking pass. He later required treatment after missing a close-range header, but continued.
  • Nathaniel Brown set up Serge Gnabry for Bayern’s second goal in the 42nd minute. Brown also received treatment early in the second half before staying on until Alphonso Davies replaced him on 73 minutes.
  • Freiburg’s goal arrived in the 82nd minute, when Tom Bischof turned the ball into his own net.
  • Olise sealed the result five minutes into added time with a left-footed strike from outside the box. He provided assists for Upamecano and contributed several key chances.
  • Bayern introduced Ismael Saibari and Sacha Boey on 61 minutes. Davies came on for Brown, while Hiroki Ito replaced Lennart Karl late on.
  • Freiburg brought on Igor Matanovic, Rihito Yamamoto, Cyriaque Irié, Vincenzo Grifo and Max Rosenfelder. Matanovic had several late headed efforts, with Jonas Urbig saving one and another being blocked.
  • Jonathan Tah was booked for Bayern. Freiburg yellow cards went to Lucas Höler, Niklas Beste and Maximilian Eggestein.

What it changes in the Bundesliga week

Bayern left Freiburg with three points after taking their chances before the break. Upamecano scored from the opening transition, then Gnabry converted after Brown’s forward pass.

Freiburg improved after the interval and created pressure through Grifo’s delivery once he entered. Matthias Ginter forced a late save from Urbig, while Matanovic was repeatedly involved in the box. Bischof’s own goal reduced the margin, but Bayern survived the closing sequence.

Olise’s stoppage-time finish settled the match at 3-1. Bayern’s late substitutions gave Davies, Boey, Saibari and Ito minutes, while Freiburg’s changes added Grifo, Matanovic and Rosenfelder to the second-half push.
