Berterame Caps Inter Miami’s Flowing Team Move in NYCFC Win

In Miami’s warm evening light, Inter Miami found both the result and a glimpse of the collective rhythm they have been seeking. The Florida club beat New York City FC 2-0, with Germán Berterame supplying the standout finish of the match after a flowing move that travelled through some of the side’s most recognisable names.

The goal began on the left, where Sergio Reguilón delivered the ball into the attacking sequence. Lionel Messi brought it under control immediately before moving it on to Rodrigo De Paul, who quickly linked with Luis Suárez. Suárez then picked out Berterame in the middle, and the Argentine-born Mexico international arrived to complete the move with a finish into the net.

A first goal brings relief

For Berterame, the strike carried a personal weight beyond its place in a 2-0 win. The forward said he had been waiting to open his scoring account and felt the release of finally doing so.

“There is obviously a lot of relief because I had been looking for it for some time,” Berterame said. “It finally came, and hopefully we can continue in that direction.”

His goal gave Inter Miami a memorable passage of combination football: Reguilón, Messi, De Paul and Suárez each played their part before Berterame provided the final touch. It was the kind of sequence that made the victory over New York City FC feel more complete than a routine home result.

Attention turns to the weekend

Berterame also stressed that the team had achieved the immediate target set for the occasion, but did not linger over the performance. With another fixture approaching, Inter Miami’s focus was already moving towards the weekend.

“I am happy because we reached our first objective,” he said. “Tomorrow we will think about the weekend match, so we have to keep preparing.”

For a side assembling talent from across the Americas and Europe, the night offered a neat continental tableau: a Spanish full-back initiating the attack, Argentina’s Messi and De Paul shaping it, Uruguay’s Suárez supplying the final pass, and a Mexican international born in Argentina finishing it.
