Blake Coleman’s return to Calgary brought the Saddledome crowd to its feet Thursday, with Flames fans giving the Minnesota Wild forward a long ovation in his first game back since his July trade.
A Saddledome salute for a familiar Flame
- Coleman took the ice in Calgary for the first time as a visiting player after spending five seasons with the Flames from 2021 through 2026.
- During a first-period stoppage, the Flames ran a tribute package on the scoreboard featuring highlights from Coleman’s Calgary tenure.
- The building responded with a standing ovation as the veteran acknowledged the fans from the ice.
The recognition marked a warm homecoming for Coleman, who played five of his 11 NHL seasons in a Flames sweater. He was dealt to Minnesota in July in a trade that sent forward Jake Middleton and future draft picks back to Calgary.
Calgary also posted the tribute video on its social media channels, preserving a moment that gave Coleman a loud welcome back to the rink where he spent a significant stretch of his NHL career.
