Brazil vs Australia: Ancelotti’s Side Set for Brisbane Friendly

Brisbane hosts the closing chapter of Brazil’s Australian tour on Tuesday, when Carlo Ancelotti’s side return to the field against the Socceroos at Suncorp Stadium, four days after a late equaliser prevented the hosts from claiming a notable win in Townsville.

The friendly is scheduled for 29 September 2026, with kick-off at 04:00 Central Mexico time. No confirmed television coverage has yet been announced for Mexico.

Australia and Brazil drew 1-1 in their first meeting of this FIFA international window on Friday 25 September. In Townsville, Nestory Irankunda gave the home side the lead with an expertly struck free-kick, rewarding an organised performance that made life uncomfortable for the visitors.

Brazil looked set to leave North Queensland empty-handed until stoppage time, when Rayan headed in from Raphinha’s delivery to restore parity. The late intervention ensured Ancelotti’s squad remained unbeaten on the trip, but it also left them still searching for a first victory in Australia.

A second meeting in Brisbane

Ancelotti is expected to alter his starting side for the second contest, testing further options before Brazil depart. Vinícius Júnior and Raphinha are again likely to be among the principal attacking figures as the Canarinha seek a more decisive finish to the tour.

For Australia, the challenge is to reproduce the discipline displayed in Townsville while making use of the strengths that troubled Brazil first time around. The Socceroos combined defensive order with a threat from set pieces, and Irankunda’s free-kick offered clear evidence of the danger they can create in those moments.

Suncorp Stadium now provides a larger stage for two teams meeting again in quick succession: Brazil looking to turn a draw into a win, and Australia hoping home surroundings can again narrow the gap against one of world football’s traditional powers.
