Milwaukee’s long-awaited return to the World Series is already reshaping the city’s sports calendar. With the Brewers headed to the Fall Classic for the first time since 1982, the Bucks have moved their 2026-27 home opener to an afternoon slot so fans can take in both major events.
The Brewers earned the National League pennant by sweeping the Dodgers, who entered the series as two-time defending World Series champions. Milwaukee will open the World Series on Friday, Oct. 23, against either the Tampa Bay Rays or Cleveland Guardians.
Game 1 is scheduled for Oct. 23 and will air on FOX, FOX Deportes and FOX One.
Bucks move opening tip to 3 p.m.
The Bucks had been set to begin their season that same night at Fiserv Forum. Instead of creating a direct collision with the Brewers’ biggest game in 44 years, Milwaukee’s NBA club will tip off at 3 p.m. CT.
The organization said the adjustment was made in recognition of the moment for the city and state.
“The Brewers’ return to the World Series for the first time in 44 years is a special moment for Milwaukee and sports fans across Wisconsin,” the Bucks said. “Congratulations to the Brewers and the entire organization on this tremendous achievement, and we’ll be cheering them on as they begin their World Series run.”
Support reaches Green Bay
The Brewers’ run is not stopping at Milwaukee’s city limits. Packers coach Matt LaFleur arrived at his Friday news conference wearing a Brewers cap after watching the club finish off Los Angeles.
“I want to support the Brewers,” LaFleur said. “That was pretty cool to watch last night.”
For a city that has waited since 1982 to see the Brewers back on baseball’s final stage, Oct. 23 now shapes up as a full Wisconsin sports day: a Bucks matinee, then a World Series opener under the lights.
