Bruno Fernandes’ Cheshire Home Burgled During Manchester United’s Italy Trip

Bruno Fernandes was away in Italy with Manchester United for their Champions League tie against Como when burglars entered his home in Nether Alderley, Cheshire, taking designer jewellery and other high-value possessions.

The United captain’s wife, Ana Pinho, and the couple’s two young children were not at the property when the break-in occurred. The house, valued at more than €4 million, was targeted while Fernandes was on European duty at a difficult moment for the club, with manager Michael Carrick under mounting scrutiny.

Three intruders are understood to have spent fewer than five minutes inside before police arrived. Officers had been alerted after a neighbour spotted men acting suspiciously in the rear garden.

A familiar concern in Cheshire

The rear of the Fernandes property borders woodland, with the suspects believed to have crossed a fence to gain entry. The family had security cameras and an advanced alarm system in place, but the raid was carried out quickly.

Fernandes is the latest footballer to have his home targeted while playing for his club. Cheshire has seen a succession of similar incidents involving high-profile players: Manchester City defender Rúben Dias and his former partner Maya Jama were victims of a burglary in the same area, while Jack Grealish, Raheem Sterling and Riyad Mahrez have also suffered break-ins locally.

United’s immediate focus remains the trip back from Italy and the pressure surrounding Carrick’s position. For Fernandes, though, a European away day has brought an unwelcome reminder that the concerns of a football week can reach well beyond the training ground.
