Montreal’s outdoor-game sweaters are officially in the room, and the Canadiens’ players liked what they saw ahead of the 2026 Tim Hortons NHL Heritage Classic in Winnipeg.
Key takeaways
- The Canadiens will meet the Winnipeg Jets outdoors on Sunday, Oct. 25, at Princess Auto Stadium.
- Puck drop is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET, with coverage on SN, TVAS, TNT, truTV and HBO MAX.
- Montreal’s Heritage Classic uniform combines its familiar red and blue with a vintage off-white accent.
- Nick Suzuki, Cole Caufield, Jake Evans and Phillip Danault were among the Canadiens who saw the new design first.
- The jersey collar carries the “Les Habitants” name, while the label includes a Quebec fleur-de-lis.
Canadiens get their outdoor look
The NHL and Fanatics revealed the uniforms Wednesday for the league’s next Heritage Classic, with Montreal going back to the colours that have defined the club while giving the sweater an older, outdoor-game feel through the off-white detailing.
The design also leans into the Canadiens’ history in Quebec. “Les Habitants” appears at the rear of the collar, a reference to the club’s long-standing nickname, and the loop label is marked with a fleur-de-lis.
Suzuki welcomed the chance to finally take part in an NHL game under the open sky. “Playing outside is something I always dreamed about,” the Canadiens captain said. “It’s great that we get the opportunity. I’ve been waiting for this, and we’ll look good on the ice.”
Caufield will be making his outdoor-game debut. “I’m really excited,” he said. “It’ll be my first one. I’m ready for the cold and hopefully to score.”
Countdown to Winnipeg
The Canadiens and Jets are set for an Oct. 25 Sunday night date at Winnipeg’s Princess Auto Stadium. The 7 p.m. ET game will air across Canada and the United States on SN, TVAS, TNT, truTV and HBO MAX.
Fans can now purchase the Canadiens Heritage Classic jersey and related event apparel through Fanatics, NHL Shop sites, both clubs’ online and brick-and-mortar stores, and the NHL Shop NYC flagship location. A wider retail rollout begins Thursday.
