Chivu Managing Inter International Workloads Ahead of Parma Clash

Inter’s unbeaten league run returns to the Meazza on Saturday evening, with Parma arriving for an 18:00 kick-off and Cristian Chivu weighing the demands placed on his international players.

The Nerazzurri have not lost in Serie A this season, while their home record has held firm since the Milan derby in November 2025. That run gives the fixture its place in the wider campaign, but Chivu made clear that past habits offer no licence to relax.

Quick facts

  • Inter host Parma on Saturday at 18:00.
  • Inter remain unbeaten in the league.
  • Their last Meazza defeat came in the Milan derby in November 2025.
  • Chivu will assess the workload of players returning from international duty.
  • Spence will be included in the squad after two months out.
  • Chivu has not yet decided whether Provedel will start in goal.

The principal selection issue concerns players who have been away with their national teams. Chivu said Inter cannot ignore the minutes they have accumulated, stressing that the club does not intend to endanger their physical condition.

He acknowledged that such players are accustomed to a demanding rhythm and often prefer matches every three days to training sessions. Even so, the coach said he must judge each individual situation and balance the potential risks before naming his side.

There is also uncertainty in goal. Asked whether Provedel would play, Chivu did not offer a final answer, saying the decision would be made on the following day, with the 18:00 start another factor in his thinking.

Spence, absent for two months, is set to return to the matchday group. Chivu said the player has trained well in recent days, although he will make a final assessment before deciding how much involvement he can have against Parma.

The coach’s broader message was one of caution. Inter have built their recent years on refusing to underestimate opponents, Chivu said, and Parma will receive the same level of attention as the season’s larger tests.
