Jackson Chourio gave Milwaukee its biggest swing of the postseason, lining a two-run single with two outs in the ninth inning against San Diego closer Mason Miller to lift the Brewers into a 2-0 National League Division Series lead.
The Brewers had been held off the board deep into the game, but their ninth-inning push changed the shape of the series. With Miller on the mound and the Padres positioned to protect a late tie, Chourio delivered the hit Milwaukee needed, bringing home two runs.
It was a closer’s spot, a two-out moment and the kind of October at-bat that can turn a series before either club leaves town. Chourio stayed in the inning long enough to put the Brewers in front, and Milwaukee finished the comeback with a two-game edge in the NLDS.
Brewers seize control late
San Diego handed the ball to Miller for the final innings, but Milwaukee found its opening in the ninth. Chourio’s single was the decisive blow, producing both runs and putting the Padres in an immediate postseason hole.
The series now stands 2-0 in Milwaukee’s favor, with the Brewers carrying momentum from a ninth-inning rally that came down to their young outfielder’s two-out hit.
